Last Updated: August 31, 2026
Effective Date: August 31, 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of cursus, including the web application available at app.cursus.in and the public marketing website at cursus.in where these Terms are applicable (collectively, the "Service").
The Service is operated by cursus, with its principal operations in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India ("cursus", "we", "us", or "our").
By creating an account or using the Service in a manner that indicates acceptance of these Terms, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not create an account or use the parts of the Service to which these Terms apply.
The Service also has a Privacy Policy and Cookie & Local Storage Policy, which form part of the framework governing your use of cursus. Those documents describe data processing and cookie technologies separately from these Terms.
1. Definitions
1.1 "Service" / "Platform"
"Service" or "Platform" means the cursus services made available by us through our websites and application, including the productivity and life-management features available through app.cursus.in, and the public marketing website available at cursus.in where relevant.
The application may include modules and features such as Tasks, Projects, Goals, Habits, Time, Forge, Knowledge, Mindfulness, Vision, Nexus, Overview, Community, and Squads. Individual features may be introduced, changed, restricted, or discontinued as described in these Terms.
1.2 "User," "you," and "your"
"User," "you," and "your" mean the individual using or accessing the Service.
1.3 "Content"
"Content" means text, data, information, messages, media, notes, records, links, or other material that you submit, upload, create, or otherwise make available through the Service.
1.4 "Community Content"
"Community Content" means Content that you post or share through the public or group-based community features of the Service, including shared spaces, channels, and Squads.
1.5 "Privacy Policy"
"Privacy Policy" means the cursus Privacy Policy describing our collection, use, storage, security, disclosure, retention, and other processing of personal data.
2. Eligibility and Children's Use
2.1 Minimum Age
The Service is available to users aged 13 years and older.
Individuals under 13 are not permitted to create or maintain a cursus account.
2.2 Users Aged 13–17
If you are at least 13 but under 18:
- the registration flow requires your date of birth to determine the applicable age and consent process;
- your account may require a parent or lawful guardian to complete the parental-consent process before the account becomes active;
- the current parental-consent flow uses a parent or lawful guardian's email address and an affirmative consent action;
- access to the application is not activated until the required consent step has been completed.
The current implementation and the related handling of children's personal data are described in the Privacy Policy.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to treat a child's parental-consent process as equivalent to an adult user's contractual capacity where the law distinguishes the two.
2.3 Users Under 13
If information provided during registration indicates that the applicant is under 13, the account will not be permitted to remain active. Any associated personal data will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
2.4 Accuracy of Information
You must provide information that is accurate and current to the best of your knowledge and must not knowingly impersonate another person or misrepresent material information about yourself.
Where applicable law imposes specific obligations concerning information provided in connection with data rights or identity verification, those obligations are addressed separately in the Privacy Policy.
2.5 Parent and Guardian Communications
A parent or lawful guardian may contact privacy@cursus.in regarding a minor's account, parental consent, privacy rights, or account-related matters where applicable.
3. Account Registration, Authentication, and Security
3.1 Account Creation
To use app.cursus.in, you must create a cursus account using the registration information requested by the application or by using the supported Sign in with Google authentication method.
You must not create an account using false information, impersonate another individual, or knowingly provide information that belongs to someone else without authorisation.
3.2 Authentication
cursus supports email/password authentication and optional Google OAuth sign-in.
Authentication and session management for app.cursus.in use server-issued cookies. We do not use JWT-based login as the application's current authentication mechanism.
Where Google Sign-In is used, Google authentication is governed by Google's applicable terms and privacy documentation in addition to these Terms.
3.3 Account Security
You are responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect access to your account and the devices you use to access it, including:
- keeping your login credentials confidential;
- not intentionally sharing access to your account;
- using reasonable device and account security practices; and
- promptly contacting raushankumar@cursus.in if you believe your account has been compromised.
You are responsible for activity carried out using your credentials to the extent permitted by applicable law, but nothing in these Terms makes you responsible for activity caused by a security compromise that was not reasonably attributable to your acts or omissions.
3.4 One Account Per Person
Unless we expressly authorise otherwise, an individual may maintain only one active personal cursus account.
We may take appropriate action against duplicate, fraudulent, abusive, or circumvention accounts, including restricting, merging, suspending, or terminating them where reasonably necessary.
3.5 Account Sharing and Transfer
You may not sell, rent, lease, transfer, sublicense, or otherwise provide your personal account to another person.
4. Use of the Service
4.1 Permitted Use
cursus is provided primarily for personal productivity, organisation, planning, learning, wellness, life-management, and related purposes.
Depending on the features available to you, the Service may allow you to:
- manage tasks, projects, and goals;
- track habits and time;
- maintain journals, notes, reading or study records;
- use Forge, Mindfulness, Knowledge, Vision, Nexus, Overview, Community, and Squad features;
- view personal progress and derived productivity metrics such as Aura; and
- use other features that cursus may introduce from time to time.
4.2 Prohibited Conduct
You must not:
- use the Service for unlawful purposes;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to another user's account or data;
- interfere with or materially disrupt the Service or its infrastructure;
- bypass or attempt to bypass security, access, rate-limiting, moderation, or other technical restrictions;
- deploy bots, scrapers, crawlers, automated agents, or similar systems against the Service without our prior written permission;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code except where applicable law expressly permits the activity;
- use the Service to distribute malware, destructive code, or material intended to damage or compromise systems;
- use the Service to impersonate another person or entity;
- use the Service to harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, sexually exploit, or otherwise harm another person;
- upload or distribute unlawful content;
- use the Service to facilitate fraud, scams, credential theft, or other abusive conduct;
- attempt to evade a suspension, restriction, block, or other enforcement measure;
- scrape, copy, redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit substantial portions of the Service without permission;
- use the Service to conduct unauthorised security testing or penetration testing; or
- otherwise use the Service in a manner that materially interferes with other users' access, safety, privacy, or enjoyment of the Service.
Nothing in this Section restricts conduct that applicable law expressly protects.
5. Community, Squads, Moderation, and User Safety
5.1 Community Features
app.cursus.in may provide shared community spaces and channels and a separate Squad feature for groups of up to 10 members.
cursus does not currently provide private one-to-one direct messaging.
Community and Squad Content should be treated as shared content rather than as a private space visible only to its author.
5.2 Community Rules
You must not use community or Squad features to:
- harass, threaten, intimidate, or target another person;
- engage in sexual exploitation or sexual abuse;
- solicit or facilitate sexual activity involving a minor;
- distribute exploitative or unlawful sexual material;
- spam, flood, or intentionally disrupt conversations;
- impersonate others;
- evade moderation or user blocks;
- distribute malware, scams, phishing content, or malicious links;
- encourage violence or other unlawful conduct; or
- repeatedly engage in conduct that materially harms the safety or integrity of the community.
5.3 Automated Screening and Moderation
Community messages are subject to an automated abuse filter before delivery.
The safeguards apply generally to users, including adults and minors, and are designed to detect and block abusive or sexually exploitative conduct and prevent spam or message flooding.
Depending on the circumstances, content may be:
- allowed to send;
- partially masked;
- blocked before delivery with an appropriate notification; or
- escalated for further moderation.
Repeated or serious violations may result in restrictions on messaging, temporary suspension of messaging privileges, or other account-level enforcement.
Human moderators may review reports or matters escalated for safety, abuse, or rule enforcement.
5.4 Reporting
Users may report community content or other users to cursus.
We may review reported material and take actions that we reasonably consider appropriate under these Terms, our safety policies, and applicable law.
5.5 Blocking
Users may block other users through available application controls.
When you block another user, the blocked user cannot interact with you through the relevant community features, including:
- viewing your community messages;
- mentioning you;
- messaging you;
- sending you Squad invitations; or
- viewing your profile.
The block does not automatically remove historical shared content already posted by either person.
5.6 Enforcement
Depending on the nature and seriousness of conduct, cursus may:
- warn the user;
- mask or remove content;
- restrict messaging;
- temporarily suspend specific features;
- temporarily suspend an account;
- terminate an account; or
- take another measure reasonably necessary to protect users, the Service, or legal and safety interests.
Where practicable, enforcement may take into account the severity, frequency, context, and history of the conduct.
6. Your Content
6.1 Ownership
You retain ownership of Content that you create or provide through the Service, subject to rights that may already belong to third parties.
You represent that you have the rights or permissions reasonably necessary to submit the Content you provide.
6.2 Licence to Operate the Service
You grant cursus a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit, process, display, and otherwise use your Content to the extent reasonably necessary to:
- provide and operate the Service;
- display your Content to you;
- display Community Content to the members of the relevant community or Squad as intended by the Service;
- maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the operation of the Service;
- perform moderation, abuse prevention, and safety functions;
- comply with applicable law; and
- protect the rights and safety of cursus, its users, and third parties.
This licence does not transfer ownership of your Content to cursus.
Except for Community Content that remains available as shared content under these Terms and the Privacy Policy, this licence ends for the relevant Content when it is deleted, subject to legally required retention or other applicable exceptions.
6.3 Community Content After Account Deletion
Because Community Content is shared with other users, deleting your account does not necessarily delete historical Community or Squad Content.
As described in the Privacy Policy, such Content may remain visible to other members and may continue to display the associated username/name after account deletion, subject to the applicable retention and moderation processes.
6.4 No Sale of Your Content
cursus does not sell, rent, lease, or trade your Content for third-party commercial use.
Nothing in this Section prevents a third-party service provider from processing data on our behalf as described in the Privacy Policy.
6.5 Content Moderation and Safety
You acknowledge that Community Content may be subject to automated screening, user reports, moderator review, masking, blocking, deletion, or other safety-related actions under these Terms.
7. Subscriptions, Payments, and Billing
7.1 Paid Service
Certain cursus features or plans may require a paid subscription.
The pricing, subscription period, billing frequency, and features applicable to a plan are those displayed at the time of purchase or otherwise expressly offered to you.
7.2 Payment Processing
Subscription payments are processed through Razorpay Software Private Limited ("Razorpay").
cursus receives limited payment and subscription metadata necessary to manage subscriptions and billing, as described in the Privacy Policy.
cursus does not receive or store your full card number, CVV, bank-account credentials, UPI authentication credentials, or equivalent payment-instrument credentials through its normal subscription integration. Payment-instrument information is handled by Razorpay and the applicable payment network under their respective terms and privacy practices.
7.3 Subscription Renewal
Where a plan renews automatically, the applicable renewal frequency and price will be presented at the time of purchase or renewal.
You are responsible for maintaining a valid payment method where required for continued subscription access.
7.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription through the cancellation mechanism made available by cursus or, where applicable, by contacting us.
Cancellation generally stops future recurring billing but does not necessarily create an immediate refund or entitlement to reimbursement for a subscription period already purchased, subject to Section 7.5 and applicable law.
7.5 Refunds
Except where a refund is required by applicable law or expressly provided by an applicable offer or plan, payments are non-refundable.
Deleting an account, voluntarily abandoning a subscription, or failing to use the Service does not by itself create an entitlement to a refund for unused subscription time.
Nothing in these Terms limits a consumer right or other non-waivable legal entitlement that applies to the transaction.
7.6 Technical Failures and Discretionary Refunds
cursus may, at its discretion, consider a refund or credit where a verified technical failure on our part materially prevents access to a paid Service for an extended period.
Any discretionary refund or credit does not create an automatic entitlement to the same treatment in another case.
7.7 Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
You should contact us or the applicable payment provider regarding a genuine billing dispute before initiating a chargeback where reasonably practicable.
Where cursus reasonably determines that a chargeback appears fraudulent or abusive, we may suspend affected account or subscription functionality while the matter is investigated, subject to applicable law.
7.8 Pricing Changes
We may change subscription prices for future billing periods.
Where applicable, we will provide reasonable notice of material pricing changes before they take effect.
A promotional or contractual Lifetime Price Lock, if expressly offered and confirmed for a particular plan, will remain subject to the exact conditions and duration stated when that price lock was granted, including any applicable taxes or changes required by law.
8. Google Sign-In and Third-Party Services
8.1 Google Sign-In
Google Sign-In is an optional authentication method.
The current cursus integration uses the standard account/profile information needed for the selected sign-in flow and does not provide cursus with access to unrelated Google services such as Google Calendar, Google Tasks, Google Drive/Docs, or Google Fit.
8.2 Third-Party Terms
Third-party services used in connection with cursus may have their own terms, privacy policies, security practices, or service conditions.
Where the Service relies on a third party, your use of that third party's service may also be subject to its applicable terms.
The Privacy Policy identifies the principal third-party services and their roles in relation to personal-data processing.
8.3 Third-Party Availability
cursus is not responsible for outages or failures that are solely caused by an independent third-party service, although we will take reasonable operational steps appropriate to restore affected functionality where practicable.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 cursus Intellectual Property
The cursus name, original branding, logos, product design, proprietary application code, interface design, original graphics, documentation, text, and other original materials created by or for cursus are owned by cursus or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law.
9.2 Your Rights
Except for the rights expressly granted to cursus under these Terms, nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your Content or other intellectual property to us.
9.3 Third-Party and Open-Source Materials
The Service may contain open-source software, third-party libraries, infrastructure components, fonts, or other materials owned by their respective licensors.
Those materials remain subject to their applicable licences and terms.
9.4 Restrictions
Except where applicable law expressly permits it or we provide written permission, you may not:
- copy or reproduce substantial portions of cursus proprietary materials;
- distribute or commercially exploit our proprietary software or branding;
- create derivative works from protected cursus materials;
- remove proprietary notices;
- use cursus marks in a way that creates confusion as to sponsorship or affiliation; or
- attempt to misappropriate cursus intellectual property.
10. Service Availability, Changes, and Beta Features
10.1 Availability
cursus is provided on an "as available" basis.
We do not guarantee that the Service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously available.
Maintenance, security measures, infrastructure incidents, third-party outages, upgrades, or other circumstances may temporarily affect availability.
10.2 Feature Changes
We may add, modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary for:
- product development;
- security;
- legal compliance;
- technical limitations;
- abuse prevention;
- operational changes; or
- other legitimate business reasons.
Where a change materially affects a paid subscription, we will take reasonable steps required by applicable law and the circumstances of the change.
10.3 Beta and Experimental Features
Certain functionality may be identified as beta, experimental, preview, or otherwise not generally available.
Such features may change, be restricted, or be removed as part of product development.
10.4 Permanent Discontinuation
If cursus permanently discontinues the Service, we intend to provide reasonable advance notice to active subscribers where practicable and legally appropriate.
Where data export is available, users should export information they wish to retain before the Service is discontinued.
11. Account Deletion and Termination
11.1 Deletion by You
You may delete your account using the account-deletion functionality where available or by contacting raushankumar@cursus.in.
Once an account-deletion request is successfully processed, cursus will handle the account's personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy, including applicable deletion timelines and legal-retention exceptions.
11.2 Data Export Before Deletion
Where the Service provides data export, you are responsible for obtaining and securely retaining any copy of information you wish to keep before confirming deletion.
Deletion is generally irreversible once completed.
If dashboard access is unavailable after subscription expiry, you may request relevant account data or deletion assistance through raushankumar@cursus.in as described in the Privacy Policy.
11.3 Subscription Consequences of Deletion
Deleting an account while a paid subscription remains active may cancel the subscription and stop recurring billing.
Unless required by applicable law, deleting your account does not by itself create an entitlement to a refund for an unused subscription period.
11.4 Termination by cursus
We may suspend or terminate an account, or restrict particular features, where reasonably necessary because:
- these Terms have been materially breached;
- there is suspected fraud or abuse;
- the account appears compromised;
- the user threatens the security, safety, integrity, or operation of the Service;
- suspension or termination is required by law; or
- continued access would create a material risk to cursus or other users.
11.5 Effect of Termination
When access is terminated:
- your right to use the affected Service ends;
- personal data is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable law;
- shared Community Content may remain subject to Section 6.3 and the Privacy Policy;
- provisions intended by their nature to survive termination remain effective, including intellectual property, payment obligations already incurred, liability limitations, dispute provisions, and other clauses that reasonably require continuing effect.
11.6 Restoration
Where deletion or termination has been completed, cursus does not guarantee that an account or deleted information can be restored.
Nothing in this Section prevents cursus from correcting an error where required by law or reasonably necessary because the deletion or termination was caused by an error attributable to cursus.
12. Privacy and Data Protection
12.1 Privacy Policy
Your use of the Service is also governed by the cursus Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains:
- the distinction between cursus.in and app.cursus.in;
- what personal data is processed;
- applicable purposes and lawful bases;
- children's privacy;
- parental-consent procedures;
- marketing-site PostHog analytics;
- the absence of product-usage analytics in app.cursus.in;
- community moderation;
- third-party services;
- security safeguards;
- retention and deletion;
- rights and complaint procedures; and
- applicable international-transfer considerations.
12.2 Marketing Website
The public marketing website, cursus.in, is separate from the application.
Optional/non-essential analytics cookies are subject to the cookie-consent mechanism described in the Cookie & Local Storage Policy. PostHog is used only on cursus.in after the applicable analytics consent.
12.3 Main Application
The main application, app.cursus.in, does not use PostHog, Google Analytics, or third-party product-usage analytics.
The application also does not use product-usage analytics, Targeted Advertising, or behavioural monitoring for advertising, profiling, or commercial purposes.
Operational security, authentication, rate limiting, API diagnostics, and other technical records are distinct from product-usage analytics and are described in the Privacy Policy.
12.4 Children's Privacy
The age, parental-consent, and child-protection rules applicable to app.cursus.in are described in the Privacy Policy.
Nothing in these Terms reduces any mandatory privacy or child-protection right that applies under law.
12.5 Priority of Privacy Rules
If a provision of these Terms describes a data-processing practice, the more specific and current description in the Privacy Policy controls for privacy/data-processing matters to the extent necessary to avoid a contradiction.
13. Disclaimers and No Professional Advice
13.1 No Professional Advice
cursus provides organisational, productivity, planning, learning, journaling, wellness, and related software tools.
The Service does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric, financial, legal, investment, tax, or other professional advice.
Information, calculations, dashboards, scores, reminders, and similar outputs should not be treated as professional advice or a substitute for professional judgment.
13.2 User Responsibility
You are responsible for how you use information and features provided through the Service and for making decisions based on your own circumstances.
13.3 No Guarantee of Results
cursus does not guarantee any particular productivity, academic, fitness, financial, health, or personal outcome from use of the Service.
14. Limitation of Liability
14.1 Maximum Extent Permitted by Law
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, cursus and its directors, employees, contractors, affiliates, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenues, goodwill, business opportunity, or data, arising from your use of the Service.
14.2 Liability Cap
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the aggregate liability of cursus arising from or relating to the Service will not exceed the total amount you actually paid to cursus for the Service during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
14.3 Mandatory Legal Protections
Nothing in these Terms excludes, limits, or waives:
- liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited;
- statutory consumer rights;
- rights or remedies that applicable law does not permit a business to contract away; or
- liability to the extent resulting from fraud, wilful misconduct, or other conduct for which limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
14.4 User-Initiated Deletion
Where you intentionally request account deletion after being given an opportunity to export available data, cursus is not responsible for the ordinary loss of information that results from that authorized deletion request, subject always to the limitations and mandatory rights described in this Section and applicable law.
14.5 Third-Party Services
cursus is not responsible for independent acts or omissions of third-party service providers to the extent those acts or omissions are outside cursus's reasonable control, without limiting any responsibility cursus has under applicable law for its own processing or contractual obligations.
15. Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for losses, claims, liabilities, costs, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of the Service, your material breach of these Terms, or your intentional misuse of the Service or another person's rights.
This Section does not require you to indemnify cursus for matters caused by cursus's own unlawful conduct, fraud, or other liability that cannot lawfully be shifted to you.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, subject to any mandatory laws that apply to you in the jurisdiction where you reside or where the relevant transaction or consumer relationship is legally protected.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove or restrict mandatory rights or remedies available under applicable consumer-protection, privacy, data-protection, or other law.
The legal framework applicable to privacy and personal-data processing is described further in the Privacy Policy.
17. Complaints and Dispute Resolution
17.1 General Complaints
For customer-support, contractual, billing, or other Service complaints, you may contact:
We will make reasonable efforts to understand and address complaints in a timely manner.
17.2 Privacy Complaints
Privacy and personal-data complaints should be submitted through the procedure described in the Privacy Policy.
Nothing in these Terms requires you to give up a statutory right to approach a regulator, consumer authority, court, tribunal, or other competent body where applicable law permits or requires direct access to that forum.
17.3 Mediation
Where appropriate and legally permissible, the parties may attempt to resolve a dispute through good-faith discussion or mediation before commencing formal proceedings.
17.4 Courts and Jurisdiction
Subject to mandatory statutory or consumer-forum rights and any other jurisdictional rule that cannot lawfully be waived, disputes concerning these Terms or the Service may be brought before courts having competent jurisdiction in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.
Nothing in this clause prevents a party from exercising a mandatory statutory right to approach a competent court, tribunal, consumer commission, or regulatory authority.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be modified or limited to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable where legally possible, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
19. No Waiver
A failure or delay by cursus in enforcing any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce that provision later.
20. Entire Agreement and Order of Documents
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie & Local Storage Policy, constitute the principal contractual and policy framework governing use of the Service.
For questions involving:
- privacy or personal-data processing, the Privacy Policy governs the relevant data-processing description;
- cookies or similar technologies, the Cookie & Local Storage Policy governs the detailed technology and consent description; and
- use of the Service, subscriptions, user conduct, Content, and contractual matters, these Terms govern, subject to mandatory applicable law.
If a provision cannot reasonably be reconciled, the provision required by applicable law prevails to the extent of the conflict.
21. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
21.1 Material Changes
Where a change materially affects your contractual rights, obligations, paid subscription, or use of the Service, we will provide reasonable notice through an appropriate channel where required or appropriate.
A revised Effective Date will be displayed with the updated Terms.
21.2 Non-Material Changes
We may make non-material changes, including corrections, clarifications, formatting changes, contact updates, or administrative changes, without obtaining a new contractual acceptance where applicable law permits.
21.3 Continued Use
Where applicable law permits, continued use of the Service after the effective date of an updated version may constitute acceptance of the revised Terms.
Where affirmative acceptance is legally required, cursus will obtain that acceptance rather than relying solely on continued use.
21.4 Privacy Changes
Changes to the Privacy Policy are governed separately by the Privacy Policy's change provisions. A change to the Privacy Policy does not automatically amend these Terms.
